85 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY DEFILING A 12 YEAR OLD GIRL

Pa  Samuel Oladipupo , 85-year old man, , was arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 12 year old girl (names withheld)

The suspect who allegedly committed the crime last Sunday  at his No. 9 Barrack Road, Ado Ekiti and now being detained at the police headquarters, claimed that the junior secondary school girl had  seduced him  into making love with her.
Mr. Ojo Ajijola, Father of the girl, however, countered the claim of the suspect.
Victor  Babayemi  Olu, Assistant Super- intendent of Police, said the victim had been taken  to Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where series of tests were  conducted on her to ascertain whether she was actually raped or not.
Speaking under interrogation, Pa Oladipupo said he had sent Esther to buy recharge card at a nearby phone booth on that fateful day and allowed her to go home after she helped him to load it.
“To let you know that I never intended to commit the crime, after she had helped me load the recharge card on my phone right in my house, I allowed her to go without making any overture.
“But later, Esther resurfaced and came to tell me that she was famished and ask me what kind of food I had at home. I told her I only had bread and stew and she followed me inside and ate the food.
“After she finished with the food, she rested on the chair and then pulled off her clothes and told me to examine her pubic hairs. Later, she told me to examine her boobs and asked me why the two breasts were not the same, but I told her that it was natural to be so.
“As a man, I began to lose control. I then pushed her onto the bed and climbed on her.
But as I was about inserting my penis into her vagina, I quickly remembered that this might be a plan to frame me and I quickly stood up, so I didn’t enter her”, Pa Oladipupo explained.
But the girl denied ever seducing the old man. She said the man first accused her of stealing his phone, but when he found it in his house, he began fondling with her.
“I had earlier helped him to buy a recharge card, and he later accused me of stealing his phone,” she said.

THE SECRET BEHIND MY QUALITY FOOTWEAR IS THAT I USE QUALITY FABRICS......PUSH

Push, a name synonymous with quality and durable shoes has so far been a household name in the country. Most people have been curious to know the brain behind this exquisite footwear, some say it’s an Italian, others say it’s Spanish. The brain behind Push is no other person but Bosah Chibuzo Felix a talented and intelligent young Nigerian. In an interview with Cindy Amos, Emeka revealed the secrets behind his famous designer shoes.

Excerpts:
How long have you been in business?
Approximately a year now
How did you come about the name Push?
It is an inspiration from God, I was praying and the name Push just dropped into me
Apart from shoes, what else do you make?
For now we are focused on footwear, most masculine and feminine footwear.  Our watchword is building standard through durable, unique, quality and at the same time affordable shoes.  I am into only shoes for now because I believe in the word that says ‘’solidify your household before you diversify’’.
Did you learn the job?
No, it’s a passion I developed because I’ve always been an artiste, I draw a lot. I often draw shoes because I have passion for shoes, so I started designing and sketching and push shoes evolved from there.
What are the challenges you have experienced so far in your business?
Honestly speaking, it has not been rosy but the lord has been faithful.  One needs to fall to stand.  I remember when we first started, we had issues of clients promising and not meeting up with their promises. They come, make demands, then you make the designs and they don’t come to collect it.   And when you call them, they don’t pick your calls. Another challenge is the feelings some people have towards African products, some believe in travelling to probably UK, Spain or Italy to buy their products. But now, things are better, that’s why you hear the name Push everywhere.
What are your good times in the business?
I feel happy because this work brings me out, a lot of time people call from Spain, US, Uk, many other countries outside Nigeria and they commend my designs greatly. They often ask that I come over. Since I cannot always travel because it will affect my business, when I get demand outside Nigeria, I ship them.  The demand is even higher in the international markets because people are surprise about the quality and durability of my product despite the fact that they are handmade.
How can you describe the bulk of your clientele?
It’s so amazing.  I have clients in more than ten countries. Apart from Nigeria, I have clients in the UK, US, Spain, Italy, Malaysia, Norway and other African countries some other many more .
Do you work with a team?
Yes I do, I cannot do all the work alone, but I as the CEO, I oversee everything.
What’s the secret behind your quality shoes?
It’s simple, we use quality fabrics.
Can you tell us about yourself?
I am from Anambra State, Nigeria, from a family of five, I am the last. I attended to St Gregory’s college ikoyi, graduated from Lagos State University LASU, majored in computer science.
Since you studied computer science, how did you deviate from being a computer scientist to an artiste?
Yes, I know there’s a big difference between an artiste and a scientist, besides, it doesn’t connect. But sincerely speaking, in today’s society, nothing connects. It’s about what you can do to survive. Also discovering your talent, develop passion in it and earn from it.  It’s just like creating a design almost effortlessly out of passion and people are purchasing it. Moreover, when you look at the labour markets, there are no jobs; the only way to make it is to be an entrepreneur.  It’s not like I’m doing this because I cannot get a job, but this is my own passion.
Are you married or in a relationship?   No, I’m neither married nor in a relationship.
Why?
I think I have been more focused on my business.
What can you say about African fashion?
We are evolving, and we are doing great works already. Gone are the days when people relegate African fashion. In recent time, it’s glaring that African fashion has created a niche for itself in the global world and people cannot help but embrace it.

What advice do you have for people who wish to go into this line of business?
You need to be ready for the worse and at the same time ready for the best. It will go bad but it will always get better provided you have passion, you need to have serious passion, believe in yourself and also believe in God. Then you should know that it’s not only about the name but the quality, the name can only give your clients but cannot retain them, but quality can.
Leave a message for your fans
I love you all and I will always do, without you there is no Push. Please surge your patronage and I promise not to let you down as I will always give you the best. Thank you, I am

eternally grateful.

LAGOS STATE POLICE ARREST NOTORIOUS BALOGUN, SUSPECTED SERIAL MURDERER, ROBBER

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state.

Reportedly, on June 25, 2012, Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga.

Balogun, who also goes by the nick name, Asarailu, which means death in Arabic, is said to be the deputy gang leader of Downtown Boys and a member of a sect, Eiye Confraternity also known as EFCC Boys. It was learnt that Balogun was arrested on Bawahala Street near Pedro Police Station on Saturday.

A reliable police source narrated the circumstances that led to Balogun’s arrest.
He said, “On Friday, around 11:30am, Yusuf Adebowale, a resident of Somolu, took a commercial motorcycle to FirstBank branch in Fadeyi to withdraw N100, 000. As he was withdrawing the money from ATM, the okada rider, later identified as Dare, informed Balogun and his gang.

“As Adebowale left the bank, just a few metres away, Balogun and three other gang members attacked him and stole the money, phone and a wristwatch.
“Adebowale reported the matter at Onipanu Police Station and also told youths in the area about his ordeal. Less than an hour later, Dare, the okada rider, was apprehended by residents and taken to the police station where he confessed.

“Later that night, he led us to Balogun’s hideout but Balogun was not around. One of the policemen, identified as Abu, however released Dare without authorisation.”
Our correspondent learnt that the following day, around 11:30am, Balogun and four others allegedly went to rob residents of Bawahala Street and a woman alerted the police.

The police source said, “In broad daylight, Balogun and four gang members, heavily armed, went to rob. We received a distress call and policemen headed by Inspector Smart, rushed down to the scene.

“The four others escaped but Balogun was arrested and taken to Pedro Police Station where he identified himself as Ibrahim Oriyomi Folarin.”
Our correspondent learnt that the policemen could not identify Balogun even though the police had declared him wanted. However, scores of residents stormed the police station and quickly identified him.

It was learnt that there was pandemonium at the station as residents who had fallen victims to Balogun and his gang asked the police to hand him over.
Youths in the area were said to have brought a tyre and petrol which they threatened to set the suspect ablaze.

But the Special Anti-Robbery Squad took Balogun away and this restored normalcy to the station.

EBONYI SATE GOVERNOR SUSPENDS ATTORNEY GENERAL AND TWO COMMISSIONERS FOR IMPROPER DRESSING

Governor Martin Elechi
The Ebonyi State Governor, Martin Elechi, recently suspended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Ben Igwenyi, with two other commissioners for improper dressing.
According to Onyekachi Eni, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the suspended commissioners are the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and Commissioner for Works and Transport.
The commissioners were said to have dressed casually to a state banquet organised for the members of the Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON) at the Government House on Friday night, November 23.
According to Eni, the suspension is for a period of three months, pending the expiration of the suspension, the commissioners are not to attend any state function.
The governor was said to have been infuriated by the commissioners’ lacklustre dressing to the occasion which had in attendance members of SOGON from various states of the federation. To him, this singular attitude could dent the image of the state and create a bad impression.
Sources close to Government House revealed that the suspension is without pay, adding that the commissioners have been directed to hand over all government properties in their possession to their permanent secretaries.

DR ABUBAKAR OLUSOLA SARAKI DIES AT 79

Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki

Dr Abubakar Olusola Saraki, the Waziri of Ilorin and father of the immediate past governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki died today, Wednesday 14th November, in Lagos after a brief illness.

The news of his death was announced by the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulwahaab Oba, the Governor said the political icon died this morning at his residence in Lagos and will be buried Wednesday in Ilorin according Islamic rites.

Sola Saraki was born on the 17th of May, 1933 at Ilorin, Kwara State and died in Lagos November 14, 2012. His mother was from Iseyin in Oyo State and his father was from Ilorin. His paternal ancestors were Fulanis who came from Mali about 150 to 200 years earlier. He was educated at Eko Boys High School. He attended the University of London, and St George’s Hospital Medical School, London. He worked as a medical officer at the General Hospital, Lagos and the Creek Hospital, Lagos.
He first entered politics when he ran in the 1964 parliamentary election for Ilorin as an independent, but failed to win. After the election, he returned to his medical practice in Lagos, only returning to party-politics in 1978/79.

In 1977, Olusola Saraki was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly that produced the 1979 constitution. In 1979 he was elected a Senator of the Second Republic, and became Senate Leader. In 1983 Saraki was re-elected into the Senate on the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) platform.
In 1998, Olusola Saraki became a National Leader and member of the Board of Trustees of the All People's Party (APP), contributing to the APP success in Kwara and Kogi States.

He assisted Mohammed Alabi Lawal in becoming Governor of Kwara State. In 2001 he was head of a team from the Arewa Consultative Forum, a Northern cultural and political group, sent to meet and discuss common goals with Northern state governors and other leaders. Later Saraki switched allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and in the 2003 elections supported his son Bukola Saraki as candidate for governor of Kwara state in April 2003, and his daughter Gbemisola R. Saraki as senator for Kwara State Central in April 2003.

In March 2003, the Societe Generale Bank (SGBN) of which Saraki was chairman was investigated by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for alleged money laundering. Later, SGBN was investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under Nuhu Ribadu, and its license was temporarily suspended.
